 CHECK

1 BMW depending on model and equipment can have tyres and disks of the various sizes. All disks have depth запрессовки 45 mm. Depth запрессовки is a distance from the middle of a rim to a persistent surface of a wheel on a brake disk or a drum.
Bolts of a wheel for steel and легкосплавных disks have the identical sizes.

At installation легкосплавных disks of other manufacturers bolts of other sizes can be demanded.

The technics constantly develops. Can be so that for older models other values of pressure in tyres are admissible. The sizes specified in documents to the car are defining.

2 At a sports manner of driving it is recommended to increase pressure in forward and back tyres by 0.2 bar. At pressure increase it is necessary to start with a base-line value for various conditions of loading.
3 Winter tyres as a rule have pressure upon 0.2 bar above than summer. It is necessary to consider recommendations of manufacturers of winter tyres.
4 As winter tyres have restriction on speed, in sight of the driver the tablet with instructions of the maximum speed should be strengthened.

Designation of disks


Example 6 J x 15:
6 width of a rim in inches.

BMW it can be equipped with tyres and disks of the various sizes. However use of disks with depth запрессовки only 45 mm is supposed. Depth запрессовки is a distance from the middle of a rim to a persistent surface of a wheel on a brake disk or a drum.

Admissible lateral palpation on onboard закраине rims: 1.2 mm.

Designation of tyres

Example: 195/70 R14 89H
195 width of the tyre in mm.
/70 the relation of height to width (the height of cross-section section of the tyre makes 70 % from width).
If отельные data on the relation of width to height are absent (for example, 175 R 14), means it is a question of "the normal" relation. It makes 82 %.
R a radial design.
14 size of a rim in inches.
89 parametre of load-carrying capacity.
Н a class of speed, Н: to 210 km/h (on new tyres it is resulted not always).

If between the data 14 and 89 there is designation M+S, it is a question of tyres with a winter protector.

The letter of speed stands up for in the size of the tyre. Symbols of speed concern both to summer, and winter tyres, address to Specifications.

Date of manufacturing of the tyre

Date of manufacturing of the tyre is specified on the tyre in a code of the manufacturer

5 Regular check of a condition of tyres will allow you to avoid the troubles connected with stops in a way because of the lowered wheel. Besides, such checks give the valuable information on possible problems with a steering and a suspension bracket before occurrence in them of serious damages.

6 Tyres are equipped by the built in strips of indication of deterioration of a protector which are bared at decrease in depth of a protector to 1.6 mm then tyres are considered worn out. This size represents is minimum admissible depth of a protector; the tyres, which depth of a protector of 2 mm and less in most cases is recommended to replace. Depth of a protector also can be defined by means of the simple and inexpensive adaptation known under the name of a measuring instrument of depth of a protector.

7 Pay attention to any unusual deterioration of protectors. Check up pressure in all four tyres and if necessary pump up them to the recommended value of pressure.

Insufficient pressure in the tyre leads to its overheat at movement owing to an excessive deflection therefore the protector does not nestle sufficiently on a road surface.
