BMW 3 series E46

1 Disconnect a negative cable (-) the storage battery at the switched off ignition. The battery is in a luggage compartment behind a cover on the right side. At cars BMW 316i, 318i the battery settles down in an impellent compartment.

As a result of switching-off of the storage battery the data from memory of malfunctions of some monitors is erased. If necessary before battery switching-off it is necessary to consider the given memories of malfunctions. Address to Section Diagnostics of malfunctions. Work it is desirable to spend HUNDRED in conditions.

2 Models 316i, 318i: Turn away bolts of fastening and remove coils of ignition from holders, having taken them aside that at removal Manual transmission not to damage ignition cables.
3 Models 320i, 323i, 328i: Remove the fan with the holder from a radiator and displace a little upward, address to Section Removal and installation of the fan / of a casing of the fan.
4 Models 320d, 320i, 323i, 328i: Remove воздухосборную a box, address to Section Removal and installation of a box of an air inlet.

Lifting and car installation on supports are dangerous! Therefore preliminary familiarise with Razdelom Poddomkrachivanie and towage

5 Remove the bottom cover of an impellent compartment, address to Section Removal and installation of the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
6 Remove the amplifier of a forward part of the car, address to Section Removal and installation of a beam of a forward suspension bracket.
7 Turn away bolts of fastening and remove a reception pipe from a final collector, address to Section Removal and installation of system of release.
8 Disconnect a thermofilter of system of release in area RKPP from the car bottom.

9 Disconnect a flange карданного the hinge from Manual transmission (arrows on an illustration). Not to draw a flange, at отворачивании rotate only nuts, instead of bolts.

10 Turn away bolts of fastening and remove the central bearing карданного a shaft (an arrow on an illustration). Thus keep a shaft that it has not fallen.

11 Remove карданный a shaft from flange Manual transmission.

Adhere a shaft a wire sideways to the bottom. At removal of the working cylinder of a drive of coupling slowly unload a rod, otherwise through consolidation air will get. Suspend the cylinder with the attached hose on a wire to a body. If air gets to hydrosystem, after installation air is necessary for removing from system.

12 Remove the working cylinder, address to Section Removal and installation of the working cylinder of coupling.

13 Raise a little Manual transmission the garage lift and prop up it.

14 Turn away bolts of fastening and disconnect a cross-beam at the bottom and Manual transmission.
15 Slowly lower Manual transmission the garage lift so that the engine almost concerned walls of an impellent compartment.

Do not lower it too low not to damage.

16 Prop up the engine in front the second lift that it after removal Manual transmission could not overturn.

17 Remove lock скобы-4 on draught of switching from outside Manual transmission and the switching lever. Remove washers-5 draughts of switching, remove draught. At installation keep in mind that the big surface of washers-5 adjoins to draught of switching of a box.

18 Take away upward a screw-driver a clamp of a basic finger of draught of switching on a box. A finger take out sideways.

19 Rasstykujte a socket of the switch of a backing on a box. Release a cable of lanterns of a backing and the gauge of oxygen from holders on a box.

20 Turn out screws Torx of fastening of a flange of a box (an arrow on an illustration). Screws have the various sizes. Write down their arrangement.

21 Remove back a box from directing plugs and a primary shaft and take out it by means of the assistant.

At removal and installation of a box do not suppose, that it has hung on primary to a shaft as it can lead to damage of a conducted disk of coupling. Extend a box back how much it probably, turn approximately on a corner 10 counter-clockwise and remove.

22 Before installation check up coupling, address to Section Removal and coupling installation.
23 Check up ease of a course of the bearing of deenergizing of coupling. Grease adjoining surfaces of the lever of deenergizing with greasing “ESSO UNIREX S2”.

Check up greasing in grooves шлицев a primary shaft. If greasing sticky, it is necessary to replace a conducted disk of coupling. Address to Section Removal and coupling installation.

24 Erase a rag greasing with шлицев a primary shaft. Then apply a thin film greasings “ESSO UNIREX S2”. Do not put too much greasing as it can get on frictional surfaces and lead to refusals of operation of coupling. The necessary quantity of greasing corresponds to the size of grain of fig.

25 Include the lever transfer.

Be convinced that both directing plugs-1 and-2 between the engine and a box are at a stop. Raise a box and enter it horizontally into coupling. If at installation the box shaft does not enter into a conducted disk of coupling, turn a hand a shaft behind for a flange карданного a shaft.

27 Screw bolts of fastening of a flange with washers. The tightening moments are resulted in Specifications.
28 Grease a basic finger of draught of switching with greasing “KLUBER POLYLUB GLY 801” and insert. Lower downwards a finger clamp.

29 Put washers on a finger, observing correct position. The big surface of washers-5 adjoins to draught of switching. Establish draught on the lever of a gear change and the lever of a box and fix lock скобами.

30 Join a socket of the switch of a backing and fix it. Lay a cable of lanterns of a backing and the oxygen gauge in holders on a box.
31 Establish the working cylinder of a drive of coupling, address to Section Removal and installation of the working cylinder of coupling.
32 Raise a box a jack and fix a beam on the bottom and a box efforts specified in Specifications.
33 Clean a jack.
34 Fix карданный a shaft new self-stopped nuts to a box flange. The moment of an inhaling of carving connections depends on a class of durability of bolts which is beaten out on a bolt head (address to Specifications).
35 Tighten bolts of fastening of the central bearing карданного a shaft the moment 20 Н•м.
36 Slightly tighten the moment 10 Н•м a screw ring on a mobile element карданного a shaft.
37 Fix on the bottom the heat-shielding screen. Establish release system, address to Section Removal and installation of system of release.
38 Fill Manual transmission with oil, address to Section Check of level/replacement of oil in a reducer of the back bridge.
39 Establish the amplifier of a forward part, address to Section Removal and installation of a beam of a forward suspension bracket.
40 Models 320i, 323i, 328i: Fix on a radiator the fan with the holder, address to Section Removal and installation of the fan / of a casing of the fan.
41 Models 320d, 320i, 323i, 328i: Establish воздухосборную a box, address to Section Removal and installation of a box of an air inlet.
42 Fix the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
43 Models 316i, 318i: Fix on the holder of the coil of ignition.
44 Attach a negative cable (-) the storage battery at the switched off ignition. Establish hours.
