Adjustment of a lay brake

The lay brake is completely independent of working brakes of the car. Therefore deterioration колодок a lay brake is insignificant. For this purpose cautiously tighten a lay brake at speed of 40 km/h so that brake action was slightly felt.
Keeping speed of movement, tighten a brake on one tooth and pass 400 more m. Release a brake and allow to it to be cooled. The rust which can be formed on a frictional surface, and deterioration products thus leaves.

Adjustment of a lay brake is necessary at:

- To replacement brake колодок
- To replacement of brake drums / back brake disks
- To installation back the adjusting device.
- Too big way, the passable lever of a brake (over 10 teeth).
- To replacement of a cable of a drive of a brake

ADJUSTMENT

1 Oslabte on one bolt of fastening on each back wheel.
2 Lift and establish on supports a back part of the car.

3 Remove above a cover of the lever of a lay brake-1 and take out it forward through the handle.

HUNDRED apply special tool BMW-341030 to adjustment of a lay brake. It represents two face keys being in each other which are established for two sizes: a counternut and an adjusting nut. If the specified tool presence is not present, it is necessary to remove the central console, address to Section Removal and installation of the central console.

4 Oslabte two counternuts and two adjusting screws (arrows on an illustration) cables of a drive of a lay brake. Cables completely ослабьте.

5 Completely turn out on one bolt of fastening on each back wheel. Turn a wheel so that the aperture was vertically below. Will light a small lamp in an aperture, in it the adjusting nut should be visible.

It is not necessary to remove a wheel, as it is shown on an illustration.

6 Rotation of an adjusting nut by-1 screw-driver-2 make so that Pads a lay brake adjoined to a drum and the wheel could not rotate any more. After that turn back an adjusting nut on 10 teeth. If the adjusting nut on a car left-hand side rotates in an arrow direction, brake Pads adjoin to a drum. On the right party the screw-driver rotates in an opposite direction.

7 After adjustment check up, whether wheels freely rotate, if necessary turn on still adjusting nuts. Wheels should rotate necessarily freely.
8 Adjust cables of a drive of a brake. For this purpose tighten the brake lever on four teeth and screw adjusting nuts on cables so that back wheels could rotate in regular intervals still by hand. Release the lever of a brake and check up, whether wheels freely rotate. If necessary repeat adjustment.
9 Completely release the brake lever.
10 Include ignition, the control bulb of a lay brake should not light up.
11 Tighten the brake lever on one tooth. Braking on back wheels should not be. Otherwise repeat brake adjustment. The control bulb of a lay brake can light up.
12 Tighten the brake lever on two teeth. The control bulb should light up now. Otherwise in appropriate way turn in inclusion contact on the brake lever.
13 Switch off ignition.
14 Tighten counternuts, keeping thus adjusting nuts.
15 Establish the central console if it acted in film, address to Section Removal and installation of the central console.
16 Lower the car on wheels.
17 Screw two bolts of fastening on back wheels and tighten their moment 100 Н•м.
