Removal and installation of the storage battery
The storage battery is in a luggage compartment behind a cover on the right side. At cars 316i, 318i the battery is located in an impellent compartment.

Owing to switching-off of the storage battery the data of electronic blocks of memory can be lost:
- The given memories of malfunctions in a monitor by the engine, and also in other electronic monitors are erased.
- Adjustment of hours and computer data is lost.
- New initialization сдвижной is required to the roof panel, address to Section Replacement of an element of the filter of air of salon. |

1 Switch off ignition.
|
2 Models 320i, 323i, 328i: Take out a floor covering of a luggage compartment. Turn a screw-driver on 90 clips and take out a cover. |
3 Socket for a positive cable at the storage battery is closed by a lath. Cast away it.

4 Disconnect at first negative (-)-1, and then positive (+)-2 cables of the storage battery. |
5 Models 320i, 323i, 328i: Turn away bolts of fastening-3 and remove a collar.

6 Models 316i, 318i: Turn away bolts of fastening-3 and remove a collar. Take out a casing of a positive socket-4 and a battery casing. 1 – a negative cable. |
7 Cast away the handle and take out the battery.

The storage battery contains poisonous components which cannot be utilised together with a household waste. |

Before installation and joining of the storage battery be convinced that ignition is switched off. |
8 Models 320i, 323i, 328i: Establish the battery so that poles specified towards a wing.
9 Models 316i, 318i: Establish the battery so that poles specified towards a movement direction.
10 Models 316i, 318i: Establish a battery casing.
11 Establish and fix a collar.
12 Fix on poles positive (+), and then negative (-) cables.

Watch correctness of connection of cables and cleanliness of contacts. High transitive resistance conducts, in particular at start, to an overload of electronic monitors and as a last resort can lead to their destruction. |
13 Insert a cover of a positive pole.
14 Models 320i, 323i, 328i: Insert a plastic cover into a lateral casing. Insert clips and fix their turn on 90 . Insert a floor covering of a luggage compartment.
15 Establish hours.
16 Initialize сдвижную the panel of the hatch of a roof, address to Section Replacement of an element of the filter of air of salon. |
