| 1 Remove a casing of the air filter, address to Section Removal and installation of the air filter of the engine.
2 Remove spark plugs, address to Spark plug Section.

3 Disconnect a ventilation branch pipe картера at a cover of a head of cylinders of the pipeline ”.

4 Turn away bolts of fastening and uncover heads of cylinders (an arrow on an illustration). Thus pay attention to rubber linings of bolts of fastening later correctly to establish them. | 5 Remove the fan fan/muftu, address to Section Removal and installation of the fan with вязкостной муфтой.
6 Uncover a camshaft of inlet valves.

7 Disconnect маслопровод (an arrow on an illustration) at double block VANOS. | 8 Instead of маслопровода attach to double block VANOS the compressed air through a corresponding adapter and submit air pressure from 2 to 8 bar.

These and subsequent operations are necessary to establish camshafts in their substantive provision. | 9 Turn a cranked shaft at least on two turns in an hour hand direction at loaded block VANOS. To turn a cranked shaft and accordingly the engine it is possible for one of next ways:
— Switch a check point in neutral position and tighten a lay brake. Turn a cranked shaft for the central bolt of fastening of a pulley in a direction of an hour hand by means of a head.
— Lift and establish the car on supports sideways behind. Include the fifth transfer and release a lay brake. Turn forward the lifted back wheel. Thus the cranked shaft simultaneously turns
— Establish the car on an equal platform. Include the fifth transfer. Cautiously shift or ask to shift the car forward.

10 Establish a cranked shaft in position ВМТ of the first cylinder. Tops of cams (an arrow on an illustration) inlet and final valves of the first cylinder (from outside drive ГРМ) should be turned upwards. |

11 Fix a cranked shaft in position ВМТ by tool BMW or other suitable core. For this purpose insert a core into an aperture in the block of cylinders (the marksman on an illustration) in a flywheel aperture, having taken out preliminary a stopper in the block of cylinders. |

12 Turn out hairpins (arrows on an illustration). |
|
13 Fix camshafts tool BMW-11 3 240, shown on an illustration in position ВМТ of the first cylinder. It is possible to take advantage of tool KLANI KL-0580-4. The tool is established through шестигранник camshafts and imposed on an edge of a head of cylinders. |

14 Disconnect compressed air from block VANOS-4. |

After opening of carving stoppers oil follows. Prepare a rag and capacity. The oil which has got on rubber elements and клиновой a belt, immediately wipe. | 15 Turn out carving stoppers-1 in an axis of camshafts of inlet and final valves, wipe the flowed out oil.
16 Take out cover flat-nose pliers - 2-under stoppers.
17 Turn out the calibrated bolts-3 under covers. |
| Bolts have the left carving, that is for отворачивания it is necessary to rotate them to the right. |

18 Turn away an eye (arrows on an illustration). | 19 Rasstykujte a socket at block VANOS.

20 Turn away a nut (arrows on an illustration) and remove block VANOS. |

After block VANOS removal to turn the engine it is not supposed. The gear platen of a camshaft of inlet valves can slip out from шлицевого connections and valves become uncontrollable and can strike on the piston bottom. |

21 Turn out tensioner chains (the marksman on an illustration) at a head of cylinders. |

Keep tensioner, it is under the pressure of a spring. |

22 Press top tensioner chains at a connecting chain between camshafts and fix in this position, having inserted tool BMW-11 3 292. |
23 Turn away three nuts of fastening of the gauge on an asterisk of a camshaft of final valves. Remove a wheel of the gauge with тарельчатой springs from an asterisk.

24 Turn away a fastening nut (arrows on an illustration) on an asterisk of a camshaft of inlet valves. Remove a persistent washer from an asterisk. |

Before отворачиванием nuts of fastening of an asterisk of a camshaft of final valves lead round nuts a felt-tip pen that at installation an asterisk to fix in its former position. Otherwise correctly to expose asterisks it will be possible only by means of special tool BMW. | 25 Turn away three bolts of fastening of an asterisk of a camshaft of final valves.
26 Remove both asterisks with a chain from camshafts.

27 Disconnect top tensioner chains (arrows on an illustration). |
28 Disconnect an asterisk from a camshaft.

Fix an asterisk a wire that it has not slipped downwards. |
|
29 For removal of camshafts adaptation BMW 11 3 260 is required. It is intended for all bearings of camshafts in installation position when loose leaves of bearings are released. Operation of removal of both camshafts is identical, the sequence of removal of value has no. | 30 Turn out spark plugs. Establish the adaptation and fix it in carving apertures of spark plugs of cylinders 1 and 4 moment 25 Н•м.

31 Turn a wrench эксцентриковый a shaft in a direction of an arrow and fix covers of bearings. |

32 Oslabte bolts of fastening of all covers of bearings. | |
